Open maintainer setup instructions

What you’ll need

  • OBS Studio 28+ with WebSocket v5, and Python 3.10+.
  • A supported MCP client and the OBS MCP server installed as described by its maintainer.

Get connected

  1. Open OBS Studio and enable the server in Tools → WebSocket Server Settings. Note the server port and, if configured, the connection password.
  2. Install the OBS MCP server using the maintainer’s installation guide.
  3. Add the server to your agent’s MCP configuration with the matching OBS connection settings.
  4. With OBS running, ask the agent to list available scenes before requesting a change.

A first request

“What OBS scenes are available?”

The server must be able to reach the running OBS WebSocket endpoint. Streaming and recording actions depend on your OBS configuration.

Details and commands can change. Follow the maintainer’s current setup instructions .
